Agriculture & Enterprise
Eco-friendly farming technology, value chains and micro-enterprise for coastal farmers, young entrepreneurs and women.
Through the Coastal Integrated Technology Extension Program (CITEP), COAST's technical staff help families with livestock, poultry, fish culture and homestead gardening using sustainable, non-pesticide methods and local seeds.
With PKSF, COAST runs enterprise and value-chain projects such as PACE (crab culture and dry fish), RMTP poultry, SMART and the Resilient Homestead and Livelihood (RHL) project. Under the Asia-Pacific Farmers' Program (APFP) with AFA, the FO4A project helps young farmers build stronger farmers' organisations, and COAST coordinated the IFAD-funded MTCP-2 programme for farmers' organisations in Bangladesh.
COAST's Coastal Renewable Energy Project, refinanced by IDCOL, installed 5,227 solar home systems in remote chars and islands.
